Pali

Here's some video [above] made in the early 1960's (I'd guess the summer of 1962) of Pali with the three boys: Parney, Eric and me. I'm the one in the red-checkered shirt, Parney has a shirt with a light-blue large check pattern ... Eric is shirtless. The old red station wagon is there, with the first Blackie [our family dog] just visible in the background inside the car. That old car went everywhere. I haven't a clue as to why the World Book Encyclopedia is propped up on the wing.

I'm also including some photos ... the only photos that I have in fact...of Pali taken at different times and places. I know that others were made: they're probably a part of the huge treasure of slides at the house in McLean that have not yet been copied into digital format.

Next project.

The first photo is of mom and Pali in Miami taken during the time that she was living in NY, probably just before she moved to DC. If you watch the video [below: "Mom's Video"] she discusses the trip a little.

I think that it was sometime in the late 1940's.

This is a photo of Pali taken ... according to the note on the back ... sometime in 1945.

It seems that this was taken in June of 1971.

Once again, you can click on any of the photos to get a better resolution.

Expo 67

Dad and I have finally processed all the 16mm films and converted them to DVD. There are four (4) in total, with several hours worth of video cumulatively.

The above is a sample I took off one of the DVDs from our trip into Canada in 1967, highlighting our visit to the Worlds Fair in Montreal: Expo 67. The actual DVD resolution is, of course, much better.

There's no sound, of course. I thought I'd add some music but backed out because of the YouTube User copyright agreement. I suppose I could have put up one of my own pieces but I didn't have anything of that length. Maybe next time.

**** UPDATE (2/18 8:20pm) ****

OK, I put up a new version with some of my own music ... no copyright issues. For those of you who don't like modern music, blame it on the endless family "trips" in the red station wagon ... or the Bossanova ... whichever.

****

I want to get us all ... at least the local crew: Dad, Parney and me ... to view these videos together so that I can mike the session and add the audio to a new DVD that would include the commentary. I'd like to get Eric there also, but distance may be a constraint we can't overcome. Give me some options if you can think of any.

Mom's Video

This is the video I made with mom ... not the best resolution ... but that's what you get on YouTube. It may take a few seconds to start, depending on the speed of your connection. Generally, these videos are not viewable on anything less than broadband.

Contact me if you want a copy of the DVD, or a high-resolution MPEG-2 (about 4.5 Gb).

It's about 1 hour and 28 minutes long, so break out the popcorn.

I have high-resolution copies of all the photos you see on the video.

"Click" the image to the left [mom seated in costume] to get an idea of the photo resolution. If you want any of them please let me know. You can contact me by following the link to my name on the far left column, which will include a link to my email.

Dad's 82nd Birthday Party

Pat Walker, her husband John, and the rest of dad's friends from the POAC gave him a wonderful birthday party at Pat's house near Alexandria.

To the left you can see a group photo of dad and his POAC buddies.
